A pastor is human too

Psalm 6:2 Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am weak…

Pastors are human too. They are weak and have their own flaws. It’s possible for a pastor to have challenges and maybe struggle with all sorts of sin such as pornography, dishonesty, greed, insecurity, selfishness, depression, anger, etc., But obviously pastor is not going to air his dirty laundry (nor should he, within reason) to the flock. People often fail to grasp these facts and end up idolizing th...e man. I presume people are misled by the fact that pastors are smart, godly, loving, and hold various attractive leadership qualities. All these beautiful factors makes a pastor more respectable and easily cause people to hold the pastor as a perfect man. When you talk to the pastor, even if it is just in passing, he seems so loving. If you divulge your frustrations he listens to you and shows concern. However you should not forget part of the pastor’s job is to love the flock. Loving the flock is a command from the Master Jesus and not always something that comes naturally. Therefore idolizing a man of God is only to disappoint and hurt oneself. You should love your pastor and you should respect him. But you should see him as human too. See your pastor as gifted and called by God for the purpose of giving you what you need most: the Gospel. If you don’t believe that pastors’ are human too, ask his family, especially his wife. The wife of the pastor sees these things in her husband because she knows the man behind the public face.
